Mr. de la Portilla has more than three decades of experience as a business owner and consultant with a unique understanding of government, politics, and business. In his role as government consultant, Mr. de la Portilla works very closely with local and state elected officials, as well as, members of staff among various municipalities, school districts, and county governments in Central Florida.
Mr. de la Portilla’ s wide array of experience includes representing real estate developers on local government matters involving land use and zoning changes, impact fee deferrals and reductions, assistance with permitting issues, and representation on real estate transactions with the public sector. He has also been involved as a government consultant on large-scale construction and transportation projects representing firms involved in design, engineering, program management, and construction.
He has developed an impressive portfolio of clients that include industry-leading Fortune 500 companies, as well as, key regional and local companies. Committed with the community, he has served on local government advisory boards, he has been active in Central Florida’s business community and also, he has helped in numerous local charitable organizations.
Mr. de la Portilla serves on the Board of Directors of two prominent local business organizations, NAIOP Central Florida, where he also serves on the Government Affairs Committee, and Business Force.
In 2018, Mr. de la Portilla was appointed to serve on Orange County’s Mayor-elect Jerry Demings Transition Team, specifically worked on the Customer Service and Business Development Task Force and worked in work in collaboration with Orange County staff on improving the County’s Development Approval and Permitting process.
In 2021, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis appointed Mr. de la Portilla to the Valencia College District Board of Trustees.
